Literally a stones throw from the Olympic Park over the Lea Navigation you can find Crate Brewery.
Located in “The White Building” in Queens Yard, Hackney Wick, Crate Brewery is a bar and Pizzeria owned and run by people from the Hackney Wick community. Having opened in mid-July, it boasts 4 hand pumps for ale alongside fonts for craft keg and a good selection of bottled beers in the fridge.
With ample seating both inside and out, which is great on a sunny day. Sadly whilst the games are on the Lea Navigation is closed to traffic, but in due course this will make an excellent place to moor a narrowboat for a little while.
On my visit there were two cask choices – their own brewed Crate IPA, with Truman’s Runner (currently brewed by Everards of Leicester) as a guest. The IPA was lovely, fairly strong but very quaffabel nonetheless.
In addition to the 4 cask taps, there are 6 keg fonts for craft beers and lagers alongside a well stocked fridge that includes bottles from Kernel of Bermondsey. Sadly I didn’t manage to sample the food but hope to return for pizza by bicycle as soon as the towpath is reopened!
Crate Brewery can be found at the end of White Post Lane just before the bridge over the canal into the Olympic Park.
