Ale Rattle and Roll at the Snooty Fox

The Snooty Fox

Snooty Fox, Canonbury

This weekend saw the Ale Rattle and Roll festival at the Snooty Fox, Canonbury.  We headed out nice and early because the appalling weather would mean no outside drinking.  Inside the pub there were several ales on the regular bar and space for 10-12 on a separate stillage in the place of some seating, with a couple of boxes of proper cider/perry for those who weren’t interested in the ale.

In the afternoon it was comfortably busy and the music was kept at a noticeable but unobtrusive level. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful and a good time was had by all.

Favourite beer of the day was ‘Hit and Run‘ by Northern Brewing a very sweet wheat beer. Great for a 1/2 pint – I would struggle to finish a pint but was excellent for a quick half. Helpfully, the Snooty Fox is 2 minutes from Canonbury overground. I think I’ll be back on a normal day to check out the regular offering!

  1. Thanks for this nice write-up. The bar stuff, including me, are friendly and helpful because we’re lovers of good beer, members of CAMRA, and doing this because we want to get more people into real ale rather than the crappy lager that the corporate brewers are foisting onto the public.

    • No worries! – Really enjoyed it – was expecting after a few days the beer might be a bit tired, but with the freezer jacket arrangement you’d made it was very good indeed 🙂

  2. The barrels were being changed over a bit too. No one barrel lasted too long. It was a record breaking weekend for the number of barrels consumed at that pub. The Psychedelic Ale, for instance, lasted no more than four hours!

  3. Hi

the Snooty Fox will be holding a new real ale festival called Hit The North from Friday 4th Feb to Sunday 6th Feb. The theme is ale from northern England and northern soul/rock n roll.

expect new ale from Kelham Island, Northern Brewing, North Yorks Brewing Company, Saltaire and many more! There will be some brand new ales available. Top DJs all weekend.

Hope you can make it. Cheers
