Tonight’s tasting is entirely non-alcoholic. Produced in Lagos, this is described as a ‘natural malt drink’. It looks a bit like a strong stout or porter – which probably explains why export strength Guinness sells so well in Nigeria for one thing.
It’s incredibly sweet smelling and tasting – very much like the ‘wort’ of the homebrew kits I’ve made myself – the sticky treacle before you add the yeast to make the beer.
Very pleasant in small doses but I probably wouldn’t drink a lot.
